“I operate with only a cell phone and work with customers based on their schedules,” he says. “We often communicate at night and on weekends. If nighttime or Saturday afternoon is your best time to talk, that’s when we’re talking.”

One common misconception Trey likes to clear up is the confusion with national brands. “City Bank is not Citi Bank,” he says. “We’re City, with a Y. WHY??? I’m local, I care about my clients, and I don’t have an 800 number.”

When asked how he approaches client relationships, Trey keeps it simple. “As a trusted friend,” he says.
That mindset was put to the test recently when he received a call from a Dripping Springs Elite agent at 10:00 p.m. while on vacation. Their client’s transaction was falling apart with another lender, and closing was just eleven 11 days away.
“I spoke to the client later that night and received the application an hour later,” Trey recalls. “By morning, I had them approved and an appraisal ordered. An 11-day close is nearly unheard of in the mortgage world — but we got it done, and I made a new friend. It was awesome.”
Dripping Springs: Home and Community
While the lending process may be serious business, Trey finds joy in being part of a community that still feels small. “Even with all the growth, Dripping Springs still feels like one big neighborhood. Customers are neighbors and become friends.”
Trey’s ties to the community run deep. He serves on the board of directors for Dripping Springs Hometown Missions, is Vice Chairman of the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce, and is the founder and past president of the Lone Star Cattlemen Foundation, a nonprofit that has raised over $2 million for Central Texas youth.
When he’s not working or volunteering, he’s likely hunting, fishing, or helping his daughter with her 4-H steer projects, a tradition they’ve been part of for nine years.
