This Holiday is Going to the Dogs!

This Holiday is Going to the Dogs--Literally! We’re putting the pups first this holiday season with a donation drive to support Service Dogs, Inc. and local rescue shelters-- PAWS and WAG.

Service Dogs Inc. needs funding and volunteers year-round as they identify dogs and train them for service men and women in our area. Founded in 1988 by attorney and local resident Sheri Soltes, Service Dogs, Inc. builds better lives for Texans overcoming challenges through partnerships with custom trained Assistance Dogs provided free of charge.

PAWS of Dripping Springs needs food, bowls, toys, blankets and towels as well as monetary donations.

“As a non-profit, we are still in constant need of donations. We are asking that physical donations be left in the gazebo area at our Kyle location. Donations at our Dripping Springs location can be brought into our lobby or left under the truck port. Monetary donations can be made by clicking here or mailed to PO Box 695, Dripping Springs, TX, 78620. Please know that we are extremely grateful and it pains us to not be able to say thank you in person,” said PAWS Volunteer Coordinator, Barbara Pavolini Smith.

WAG Rescue based in Wimberley is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) dog rescue & adoption organization which relies solely on donations to fund its rescue efforts. Adoption fees alone do not even begin to cover the costs of providing food and medical care, supplies and boarding for one of our needy dogs awaiting their permanent home.

“Our healthy dogs stay in our system on average 56 days. However, some dogs are not ready for adoption until they are completely well, as with heartworm treatment. For these dogs, their stay in our foster system can be upwards of six months. There are also dogs in our system who may never be adopted due to age or illness. WAG Rescue cares for these dogs and thankfully we have wonderful foster families that have given these dogs a home for life if they are not adopted,” said Barbara Foss, WAG Rescue.

We're encouraging our neighbors and area businesses to donate to Service Dogs Inc. along with needed items for PAWS and WAG now through Dec. 31. All items may be turned in to one of the 25 DS Elite members or dropped off where these flyers and collection boxes are located.
